Dr Sumantra Mukerji, Preston GP and Greater Preston CCG chair said: “Vaccines are the best way to protect people from coronavirus and have saved thousands of lives already. Vaccinated people are far less likely to become seriously unwell with Covid-19, to be admitted to hospital, or to die from it and vaccinated people are less likely to pass the virus to others.
“The first dose of the vaccine offers good levels of protection, but to get maximum protection everyone must get a second dose, so we are urging all people to have their second dose when eligible. If you haven’t yet received both doses, please do make the most of these clinics.”
Adrian Phillips, Chief Executive of Preston City Council, said: “We’re pleased that residents in Preston will have more opportunities to get their first or second jab at walk in vaccination sites in the city.
“Getting the vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones from the virus so I’d encourage anyone who hasn’t yet had their first jab or is eligible for their second to visit these sites and get vaccinated.
“As more people get vaccinated we can continue to enjoy the freedoms that have come with reduced restrictions and continue to spend time with friends and loved ones knowing we’re doing everything we can to keep them safe.”
The mobile clinics are open to anyone aged 18 and over. Please do not attend for your second dose appointment unless it has been at least 8 weeks since you received your first dose of vaccine.
