Ian Cherry, Lay Member for Audit, Finance and Conflicts of Interest

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) with Spicer & Pegler (now Deloitte), Ian  has worked across many roles within accounting including Price Waterhouse (Kenya), Commonwealth Development Corporation (Tanzania, Solomon Islands,Vanuatu) and KPMG.

After a senior managerial role at KPMG, responsible for the North West forensic accounting department, in 1988 Ian decided to form one of the first practices specialising in forensic accounting.

In addition to his forensic work, Ian is a Registered Auditor and has a commercial practice as a Chartered Accountant carrying out accountancy, tax and audit work for a wide range of clients. This work has led him to numerous positions on Governing Bodies providing advice on governance and assurance across organisations.
