Dr Eamonn McKiernan, Secondary Care Doctor

Eamonn joined the Governing Body in April 2017.

Eamonn started working in the NHS in 1974 as a hospital porter. He qualified in Medicine at Manchester in 1979, and subsequently trained widely in Britain and New Zealand, in internal medicine and anaesthesia.

Eamonn was appointed as a Consultant in Anaesthesia at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in 1989. He practiced in a wide selection of anaesthetic subspecialties, such as paediatric, neurosurgical, urological, ENT and vascular anaesthesia, and, for a short time, as an intensive care consultant.

His present interest is focused on the delivery of improved care to patients, using mathematical, statistical and probabilistic techniques.
